Here are a few new announcements! First, tutorial is now @ 7:45 a.m. on Wednesdays! This minimizes conflicts with after school activities. Also, please make sure you are checking your student’s agenda because I initial any assignments! All classes have a quiz this Friday, so check in that your student is studying their notes. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me an e-mail if you have any questions or concerns so we can keep the lines of communication open. Finally, if you are interested in the class objectives for the week please check the class pages to the right. Have a fabulous week!

We’ll spend the first few days of the new semester taking a pre-test, reviewing, and reacquainting ourselves with classroom procedures. I can’t wait to start on Wednesday!

This week students will be completing their final project for the semester. The web quests we used can be viewed at the website classzone.com! Students will present in front of the class this Wednesday! Also, students will receive a final exam review packet on Tuesday, December 6th, and students will take the exam Wednesday, December 14th. We will take an entire week to review for the exam, in order for students to have all of the time they need to be successful on the exam! Please contact me with any questions or concerns as we come close to the end of the semester.

Padres,
The students have been learning about the Central American tradition of día de los muertos in class. We’ve created colorful skull masks and tissue paper flowers to decorate the classroom. The students have also learned the origen of the celebration and we’ve compared and contrasted this celebration with the American tradition of Halloween. These cultural experiences are important to the Spanish curriculum, and bringing these cultural experiences into the classroom are and imperative part of the IB program. Thursday we will continue with our in depth language study! Please, ask your student about día de los muertos and what they have learned so far this week.

This is the last week of Hispanic Heritage Month! In the Cultura portion of our class we have focused on the Hispanic/Latin experience here in the United States. We will finish the film “La Misma Luna” this week and begin a writing assignment about the film. Also, we are very excited about the Hispanic Heritage Assembly Friday morning! Students will receive their progress reports on Friday, but you can view their Spanish average now on parent portal. I hope you had a feliz fin de semana.

We have our midterm on Wednesday so make sure students are studying their review packets. Monday and Tuesday will be dedicated to review so students make sure that you are asking any and all questions that need answers! Students that are missing work have been given that information and should turn all work in by this Friday October 7th. Midterm and Cultura packets are due this Wednesday! Parents, a permission form will be sent out to all of you for student to watch a cultural film in Spanish class. Please look over the information and have your student return it with your response on whether they are allowed to watch the film. The proposed film is Pan’s Labyrinth and is entirely in Spanish! This week is the very last week of this quarter and I want all students to end it successfully.
